I am so pleased with this prayer rope!Jun 17, 2010
By Silent Dave I am an American with a Protestant Christian background, and recently I have been studying Orthodox Christianity. When I came across the Jesus Prayer I knew I had to make it part of my life. I started reciting the prayer and experienced immediate results. I don't want to say too much about the prayer as it is something one must experience for oneself.
What I can say is that my decision to get a prayer rope was key. It benefits my spiritual life in many ways. Primarily as a counting tool. I slide my fingers across the knots as I pray (one knot for every Jesus Prayer). I keep the rope in my pocket at all times (some people wear prayer ropes like this one around the wrist). I like to reach into my pocket throughout the day and press my thumb on the cross part of the rope. The rope is a reminder for me to pray. It is a constant physical reminder to pay attention to the spiritual. And it aids me greatly in asking for the Lord's mercy.
This specific prayer rope design caught my eye. I thought 33 knots were enough to start with and would be easy to carry around. The wood beads are great too. The simple design reinforces the purpose and focus of the prayer. This is a quality rope and I don't regret choosing this one at all. After I used mine for a while I ordered 4 more to give away.
I realized a few days after I had received my rope that I could stretch it and therefore tighten the knots and create more space between the knots. This realization blew me away as my new favorite thing had just got better!
And also! This rope is made by Christian families in the Holy Land. So order one and support your brothers and sisters in Christ!
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

I use this chotki every single day. I pray with it every night and it helps bring me closer to God. WAY too big for your wrist, which I wasn't expecting. I wish i could wear it on my wrist instead of on my belt where i wear it now. I stroke the cross when i get stress or something and recite the prayer. its a good grounder. Perfect for it's purpose. I just want to know what the extra wooden beads are for. they are pretty, but im not quite sure of the purpose.
